Get a Head Start on the Summer: Book a Spring Vacation to Orange Beach
We may be biased, but we think that late spring is the best time of the year to visit Orange Beach. The temperatures are perfect in the high 70s and low 80s, the beaches aren't crowded, and the prices are lower than during peak season. You can visit during some of Orange Beach's best events, wander the wide-open beaches, or visit some of the best area restaurants without a wait.
Things to Do in Orange Beach
May 1 is the start of the turtle nesting season along the Alabama Gulf Coast, which is home to green sea turtles, Kemp's Ridley, and loggerhead. These special creatures are protected so it's against the law to disturb the nesting turtles, hatchlings, or their nests. While you need to keep your distance, you can still watch them from afar.
Spending time outdoors this time of the year is pleasant because the temperatures are warm but mild. While you might experience a day or two of rain, there's still plenty to do on rainy afternoons.
When it's nice out, you can spend the afternoon at the Gulf Coast Zoo, or the "Little Zoo That Could," or feed the alligators at Alligator Alley. Both of these family-friendly destinations will have all ages feel like a kid again.
It's also a great time of the year to visit some of the historic attractions in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and beyond. The Fort Morgan Historic Site, the Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum, and Historic Fort Gaines are among our favorites.
Late Spring Events in Orange Beach
There are several big events that take place in April and May for travelers and locals alike. Whether you like great food, beach parties, or classic cars, you'll find something to do in town this time of the year.
The Annual Mullet Toss is one of the biggest events along the Gulf Coast, which takes place at the Florida-Alabama state line. This massive beach party has been going on for years and attracts visitors from all over.
Southern Grace Dinners at Fischer's at Orange Beach Marina is an annual dinner series that features local chefs and signature drinks in a laid back setting. You can buy tickets for these exclusive dinner events, which benefit local organization Fuse Project.
Bama Coast Crusin' is a classic car show at The Wharf that takes place April 24 and 25 in 2020. This free and family-friendly event features displays of an estimated 800 classic cars and hot rods.
