It's not a secret that fall is our favorite time of the year in Orange Beach, Alabama. With beautiful weather and smaller crowds, Orange Beach in the fall offers the most ideal conditions for locals and travelers alike.

In addition to great weather and fewer crowds, this time of the year typically means lots of events and activities to enjoy. While this year looks a lot different, there are ways to have the same fun without all the festivities. From the Annual Shrimp Festival to the Coastal Birdfest, enjoy the same experiences of these iconic annual Orange Beach festivals with the ones you love must.

So before you change your normal fall travel plans, get creative with these at-home festival ideas to keep the tradition alive. Book your stay at SeaChase and you'll have all the amenities and comfort you love to celebrate the season with your close family and friends.

Throw Your Own National Shrimp Festival at Home

The Annual National Shrimp Festival in Orange Beach usually takes place in October, but it has been canceled this year due to COVID-19 concerns. This festival is a staple in our community for locals and travelers alike, and while we can't gather together this year, you can keep the tradition going with just your loved ones.

Head over to a local fish market like Blalock Seafood Orange Beach, Lartigue's Original Fresh Seafood Market, or S&S Seafood Market to pick up some of the freshest seafood around. Even better, venture out on a fishing charter to catch your own. Alabama Coastal Charters and Sailaway Charters both offer shrimping excursions to catch your own crustaceans.

Once you've got your fresh shrimp, you have plenty of options on how to cook them in your own kitchen at SeaChase Resort. SeaChase vacation rentals boast spacious, gourmet kitchens to whip up all the favorites that you'd normally have at Shrimp Fest. And don't forget the cocktails and mocktails, all of which you can enjoy on your Gulf-front patio.

If you're not up for cooking, there are plenty of great restaurants in the area with fresh seafood to visit or get pick up.

Go Birdwatching in Honor of the Alabama Coastal BirdFest

Just because the Annual John L. Borom Alabama Coastal BirdFest has been canceled doesn't mean that birds aren't flying south for the winter this fall. The Alabama Coast is a resting spot for many bird species making their way south for the winter, and it's also home to a variety of species who call this region home year-round.

Fort Morgan and Gulf State Park are two great spots to go birdwatching and exploring the beautiful nature of the Alabama Gulf Coast.  The Alabama Coastal Birding Trail and Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge are both a must-visit on your bird watching adventure to this region.

Bring your binoculars, hiking gear, and camera for getting out on the trail. SeaChase is a great home base for birdwatching.
